ABOUT SOUTER'S
The History:
Kirkoswald and the surrounding area is steeped in Robert Burns history. The area was previously home to the school house which Robert Burns attended in 1772. Adjacent is also Souter Johnnie’s house from the famous Tam O’Shanter poem, directly across from the Old Parish Church and graveyard where ‘Tam O’Shanter’ and ‘Souter Johnnie’ are buried. The village of Alloway where Robert Burns was born is also nearby where you can find Burns Cottage, the Brig o’ Doon and the Burns museum. The Ayrshire area is also famous for its golf courses, attracting golfers from all over the world.
The Present:
Across our wee family of venues - owned by Brian & Tina Daly - The Abbotsford Hotel, The Brig, Bridges Bar, Wellingtons Bar, Souter’s Inn, and our own Frontline Spirits - we’re simply trying to add a bit more warmth to Ayrshire each day.
You’ll feel it in the comfort of a morning scone at The Abbotsford, the laughter spilling out of The Brig or Bridges on a busy night, the soft, speakeasy glow inside Wellingtons, or the easy, familiar welcome at Souter’s Inn. Every place has its own personality, but they all share the same heart: bringing folk together.
Frontline Spirits carries that spirit even further - founded by a local veteran and proud to give a portion of profits back to military charities. Every bottle of Heroes Vodka, 2 Guineas Rum & Pheonix Ayr Gin, tells a story of service, courage, and community… a reminder that raising a glass can raise others too.
